our engagement

Nineteen years ago today, Captain Cavedweller and I exchanged vows in front of family and friends.

We were young and in love and completely clueless. Now we’re middle-aged and in love and still somewhat clueless.

Through the years we’ve had our ups and downs, our challenges and triumphs, but the one thing that hasn’t changed is that we’ve always, always loved each other.

For that I am more grateful than words can express. And if I do try to express them, I’ll get way too sappy and my eyes may even begin to leak.

So instead, I’ll say this – it is such a blessing to have found the one person who can make me laugh and smile every single day, who knows when to leave me alone and when to give me a push forward, who will hold my hand no matter what,  who believes in me and supports me one hundred percent, who loves me without conditions or expectations.

He is my friend, my confidant, head cheerleader, coach, champion, and love.

He is my wonderful Captain Cavedweller.

Happy Anniversary!

Wedded Bliss

Seventeen years ago today, Hubby and I stood before family and friends and vowed to love, honor and cherish each other for the rest of our lives.

I could go all sappy on you here at this point, but I’ll try to restrain myself.

What I will say is that when you marry the person you are meant to be with, the person who understands you, who loves you unconditionally, who touches your heart and soul in ways no one else can… 17 years flies by really fast.

The holiday season is extra special to us not only because we wed the week before Christmas but also because we met the day after Christmas.

Hubby’s Dad and my Dad knew each other and after much ill-fated conspiring on their parts, they finally convinced us to go on a blind date. It just happened that the day after Christmas was on a Saturday.

Hubby got lost and showed up late  (even though at that time I lived less than a mile away from him). I was ready to call the whole thing off until he showed up at my door and set my heart aflutter. It has been fluttering ever since.

So to my beloved, my Captain Cavedweller, He who melts my heart daily –  Happy Anniversary!

I love you!

I appreciate everyone who has offered encouragement, ideas and support!

As a thank you to you all, I’m going to give one lucky person a $20 Starbucks gift card.

What is your best entertaining tip?

Even if you don’t entertain, I bet you have a tip you can share! And even if you don’t have one, tell me that! I’ll still enter you in the drawing!

I look forward to reading your responses and seeing who our winner will be!
