It’s spring and I’m in love.

(Besides with Captain Cavedweller, the new look of our bedroom and my new microplane!)

What I’m gushing all over these days are the new spring fashions. There are so many I love! That hasn’t happened for a while and I’m nearly giddy with excitement.

Spring’s favorite shades of pink and “honeysuckle” are right up my girlie-girl alley.

How could you not love this gorgeous dress from Dress Barn that just oozes charm, sophistication and flirty fun?

Much to my delight and Captain Cavedweller’s dismay, ruffles are still popular. This sweet T-shirt has flutter sleeves and a nice spray of ruffles that can take this simple T from ho-hum to fabulous. This is also from the Dress Barn. Look for interesting details this spring that can add pop to your outfit.

And these espadrille’s with the awesome flower in knock-your-socks off pink? I may have been overcome with the desire to have them and ordered them three seconds after I saw them online. Maybe. Perhaps.

In case you haven’t picked up on this trend, flower and rosette details are wildly popular for spring. You’ll see flowers adorning headbands, dresses, shirts, handbags and shoes. Literally, everything from head to toe!

Polka dots are also big for spring. Much to my ever-lasting joy, pencil skirts are still on the radar as well. I thought this skirt from JC Penney was so cute!

This spring’s fashions are so soft, feminine and lovely. I know that’s not everybody’s cup of tea, so I’m sorry to those of you who hate all the girlieness. But for those of us who love it – Woohoo! There is a lot of great stuff out there to choose from!

Microplane

A few weeks ago I was in a kitchen store and was completely captivated by a display of microplane zesters/graters.

Not that the zester I own doesn’t function adequately (using the term adequately really loosely). My cheapo zester works great if you don’t mind giving your arm an intense work out and having chunks mixed in with your fine zest.

The pink handled Microplane was practically screaming out to me. “Take me home, please take me home!”

So I heeded the call and purchased it. And am I ever glad I did. I love, love, love this thing.

Not only is it pink (which is of course a strong selling point for me) it does a fantastic job. I zested an orange with it this weekend in no time at all and it was so fun to use.

You can find this great kitchen accessory here, the original Microplane, made of surgical grade stainless steel and dishwasher safe (another great selling point for me!).

Spring Scents

Last week we talked about ways to lighten up your home decor for spring.

Today, let’s talk about lightening up your home scent for spring.

I know, what a profound topic of discussion. But honestly, how your home smells can have a big impact on your guests and the experience they have.

I’m a huge fan of pumpkin scents but by spring, I’m ready for something fresh and light instead of spicy and heavy.

Think about candles or plug ins or air sprays that smell like spring and sunshine and flowers and freshness.

Lilac is definitely a scent of spring. One of my favorite versions can be found from Yankee Candle.

Something fruity with a kick is always a fun fragrance and tells the nose that nothing stuffy and boring is going on in here.

A great fragrance is Caribbean Salsa from Bath & Body Works.

Another awesome scent from Bath & Body Works is Nectarine Mint. It is fruity and light with just the right pack of punch to say “Hey, the fun people hang out here.”

So lighten up! Get a new spring fragrance going on at home and see how much you and your guests enjoy it!

P.S. Yankee Candle and Bath & Body Works do not endorse my ramblings or even have a clue who I am. I just like their stuff. A lot.

Instead of posting a recipe today, I’m doing something wild and crazy and posting a link.

A very special link.

A link to beat all links… well, maybe not. But it is really cool.
