This week’s Wednesday Shout-Out goes to Send Out Cards.

If you haven’t checked out the company yet  – or even heard of them – look here.

Send Out Cards offers people an affordable way to send greeting cards quickly. You can literally log in, choose a card, write a note, and hit send in scant minutes. The card is printed, placed in an envelope, addressed and sent with a real stamp to your recipient. Most cards will cost you less than $1.

This service makes it possible to act on those thoughts that flit through our heads like “I should send Susy a note to thank you for the gift basket,” or “I should send a card to Jill. She’d been having a hard time and I want her to know we are here for her.” You get the idea. Most of us think we’ll remember to send that thank you note or thinking of you card later. But later never comes, the notes go unsent and time passes on.

I love this service because it makes it fast and easy for me to send a thank you, a birthday card or even an “I’m thinking of you” greeting. I don’t know about you but I love getting cards and notes in the mail. There is just something extra special when you look through the pile of junk mail, bills and catalogs and see an envelope from a friend.

You can give Send Out Cards a trial run by signing up for a free gift account and seeing what it is all about!

Have fun!

My Wednesday shout-out this week goes to my niece Katie. She is a 7-year-old version of human bubbles, taking her own sunshine with her wherever she goes.

I really, really love this kid. A smile or hug from her, and all is right in the world.

I learned a great lesson from her recently. As an end of school activity, her class was participating in some races and Katie was excited about running in a foot race.

The morning of the race she informed her mom at breakfast that she was going to win because she planned to start out in front and keep running, that way when the other kids got tired she would run ahead and win.

You know what? That is exactly what she did. Katie is proud of the medal she won for coming in first in the race.

I’m quite proud of her for winning, but also for learning so young what it takes to succeed – belief in yourself and the willingness to persevere when others would quit.

There are many times I could start my day with Katie’s attitude of believing I can accomplish my goal and then moving forward with unrelenting determination.

Congratulations, Katie! Job well done!

Last week I had the opportunity to have a booth at a Taste of Home Cooking School. Because these events are so much fun and offer attendees a wealth of information as well as a great evening, they are the focus of my Wednesday Shout-Out.

Attendees get to come early, sample great food, receive discount coupons, interact with vendors and then enjoy a couple of hours of exciting recipes and on-stage cooking demonstrations. Did I mention the prizes? There are a lot of great prizes that are given away throughout the evening as well.

If you have the opportunity to attend a Taste of Home Cooking School, I highly recommend it. If nothing else, you’ll come home with some great new recipes to try!

Here is my booth in all it’s lime green and hot pink glory.

The cooking school crowd, enthralled with the presentation.

The shout-out this week  goes to Capps Broadcast Group.  This is a group of radio stations that does an excellent job of providing local news coverage, entertainment, great music and top notch programming.

All the staff I’ve worked with over the years are professional, fun and a pleasure to work with. They offer everything from talk radio and ESPN to easy listening and country stations.

If you are in my local area, tune in to one of their many stations. You’ll be glad you did!
