Have you fallen into the latest vortex of online social craziness?

Oh, good.

I’m glad someone is still sane and safe.

Because I have joined the fray hanging out on  Pinterest and found that it is quite addictive.

If you haven’t heard of Pinterest, it is this cool social website where you can post photos (linked) and people repost them, sharing all sorts of wonderful things through “pins.” You’ll find everything from fashions, hairstyles and makeup tips to recipes, great quotes, photos that make your heart melt and even wedding ideas.

To play, you have to be invited, either by someone you know who is already using Pinterest, or you can request an invitation direct from the site.

I absolutely love it. Every time I check in, I found 59 new things that are exciting, interesting, humorous, and engaging. I’ve already seen dozens of recipes I want to try and, being a very visual person, I can’t tell you how much fun it is to see everything as an image.

Check it out! You’ll be glad you did. Just make sure you allot yourself plenty of time for browsing and pinning. You could be there a while!

Maybe because it is cold and rainy outside today…

Maybe because I’ve got a walloping case of the Monday blues…

Maybe because The Heinous Cat has been missing for five days now and Captain Cavedweller and I are more than a little concerned about his return…

I need some happy.

So here are some quotes that lifted my spirits a bit.  I hope they lift yours as well.

Even if happiness forgets you a little bit, never completely forget about it.  ~Jacques Prévert

If you want to be happy, be.  ~Leo Tolstoy

The best way to cheer yourself up is to try to cheer somebody else up.  ~Mark Twain

Happiness is always a by-product.  It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular.  But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness.  ~Robertson Davies

Those who can laugh without cause have either found the true meaning of happiness or have gone stark raving mad.  ~Norm Papernick

What a wonderful life I’ve had!  I only wish I’d realized it sooner.  ~Colette

The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet.  ~James Openheim

Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn’t know you left open.  ~John Barrymore

Happiness is like a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.  ~Nathaniel Hawthorne

Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be.  ~Abraham Lincoln

Happiness is a form of courage.  ~Holbrook Jackson

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery while on a detour.  ~Author Unknown

If you want others to be happy, practice compassion.  If you want to be happy, practice compassion.  ~Dalai Lama

Happiness held is the seed; happiness shared is the flower.  ~Author Unknown

There is no cosmetic for beauty like happiness.  ~Lady Blessington

The best vitamin to be a happy person is B1.  ~Author Unknown

A few weeks ago when I was writing a historical novel, I found a website that was extremely helpful in providing details about food history.

The Food Timeline offers details on everything from the history of ice right on up to Kool Aid pickles. (Yeah, I never heard of them either).

You can find out what year chewing gum arrived on the scene, when the first deviled eggs made an appearance and when Texas sheet cake became popular.

I found so many helpful tidbits of info here, but also learned a lot about food in general.

If you’ve ever wondered when or how some particular food item, came to be, check out The Food Timeline.

I had big plans.

Big, wonderful plans to share photos and a brownie recipe with you for something so deliciously clever, it would just knock your socks off.

Halfway through the project, my camera battery died right along with the cleverness. It was a sad, sad death.

So, since I have no photos or clever projects to share with you today, I thought I’d post links to some wickedly delightful brownie recipes.

Enjoy!

From one of my favorite blogger’s on the planet – Salted Caramel Brownies from The Pioneer Woman.

Mint Brownies from Taste of Home. There is a restaurant here in town that makes these. I stay far away from said restaurant because I am unable to restrain myself from ordering one if I go there.

Fudgey King Arthur Flour Brownies from Two Peas & Their Pod. If you haven’t yet discovered their blog, you should really check it out.

Ooey Gooey Peanut Butter Fudge Brownies from My Name is Snickerdoodle – another of my favorite bloggers.

Turtle Brownies from The Curvy Carrot.

I promise to get my camera battery, my cleverness and my act together in time for a fun post next week!

Happy Friday, everyone!
