Warm Fuzzies

Word of the Week: Warm Fuzzies

warm fuzzies

n,  adj

The sincerity of their comments  gave her the warm fuzzies.

Last week was my birthday. As a certain person who shall remain nameless (but lives in my house and it isn’t the cat) has stated, I am not quite as old as dirt but completely over the hill. This is not the part that is giving me warm fuzzies.

What did give me warm fuzzies were the number of people who took time out of their busy, crazy, hectic days to make my birthday special. To share a hug or “congratulations,” to send me cards and leave me messages. It meant so, so much to me and I appreciate every single one of them.

If you have the opportunity today to say “well done,” “congratulations,” or “good job” go ahead and say it – and mean it. I guarantee you will make someone’s day!

Courage Thorgood

Once upon a time, in my la-la-land of ignorant bliss where I most generally ignore the outside world, I received an email that was degrading, insulting, hurt my feelings and just made me plain old mad.

Ever receive one of those?

As I sat alternately pouting, fuming and sulking, pulling in the edges of my hole like a comforting cloak, I decided enough was enough. I needed to get up, get tough and get over it. But that is so much easier said than done.

I needed a little help.

So I envisioned a little kick-hiney, take-no-prisoners, warrior princess who resides deep inside me. And when I need a little help, I can call on her to get tough and help  me plow through my battles.

Hokey? Yes.

Cheesy? Quite possibly.

But it is fun to envision Courage Thorgood and all that she can help me do.

So the next time you are feeling a little battle-weary, find your inner warrior princess – or prince. And if someone will let you have a sword, even better!

Bravely treading forward,

Shanna

After taking a few days off, she decided relaxation was not highly overrated.
Hubby and I took a week off for some much needed R&R. It was awesome. I think I read a total of 6 novels, ate chocolate most every day and did nothing that was not absolutely required. It was awesome!
If you have the opportunity to take even a few hours to relax and recharge, I highly recommend it!

As I sit here writing this today I’m wearing pink for the third day in a row. Not that it would be completely unheard of for me to do that because I do like pink, but we have been asked to wear pink at work this week to go along with a promotion we are holding to support a local organization that provides support to breast cancer patients.

Most of us can easily think of one or two people we know who have battled breast cancer or been affected by it.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness month. I encourage you to coordinate or participate an event that helps bring awareness to others and raises funds for patients or research. Every little bit helps.

Here are links to a few great website resources:

National Breast Cancer Organization

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

American Cancer Society

Wear Pink, get involved, help save lives. You’ll be glad you did.
